The best way to get the most out of your college science degree is to focus on what you know and how you can apply it to a variety of scientific and engineering fields.
That’s the recommendation from an expert panel that included science and engineering experts, as well as more than 200 students and professors.
“A good science degree will make you an effective engineer, scientist and engineer advocate,” said Dr. James L. Davis, associate dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science and a professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Virginia.
Davis said his panel looked at four factors: the quality of your coursework, how much time you spend on it, how you apply it and whether you make a difference.
Here’s what you need to know about the panel’s recommendations.
